And I haven't updated because I don't know what to say other than "eugh, school." Except there was a Coalition of American Zombie Killers mission on Capitol Hill a week and a half ago where the C.A.Z.K. was aided by a guy who looked like present-day Ben Folds wearing a crown, armed with a nerf tommy gun. He died a lot, which led to this exchange after one of his deaths where a few of us escaped to just outside Seattle Central's Science and Math building, where we were pursued by a zombie holding a fake hand;

Other CAZK Member Whose Name I Can't Remember Anymore: "He got King Ben Folds' hand!"
Me: "How can he play piano with just one hand, you bastard?"
Zombie: *... pauses and starts miming playing piano.*

Best zombie ever. Next mission, and really the big mission of 2010 is on July 3rd at Fremont's big Red White & Dead Zombie Walk, where last year they had around four thousand zombies. There will be blood.

Name a fandom and I'll give you some unpopular opinions about it.

... except I have no clue what constitutes an unpopular opinion and so I'll probably just state opinions that I think are unpopular but are actually popular. Rock.

Oh god I don't even know. These are certainly opinions, anyway!

The storyarcs with Ranma's mother were incredibly boring, like it suddenly turned into an entirely different manga series that I had absolutely no desire to read. I mean, really, most of the stuff from the last... I don't know, eight volumes or so really did nothing for me and just made it clearer that the series needed to end. But both the manga and the anime definitely have overstaying their welcome as a common trait, even if one of the results of both were actually flirting with character depth for Kodachi for a brief moment, which was nice.

Ranma/anyone is not very interesting to me. Well, possibly Ukyo, but nothing else (I read a fic that tried to do Kodachi/Ranma long ago. It was ugly).

AND ON THAT NOTE and I'm sure I've said this before, but everyone who writes Kodachi as being a vulnerable ball of angst and impending suicide has no clue what character they're writing for and just wants to write bad angstfic. She knows Ranma doesn't love her. That's canon. She also doesn't care that Ranma doesn't love her because she's Kodachi Kuno and she gets what she wants. That is also canon, and happens immediately after she goes after Ranma. And it really feels like a clumsy attempt at realism in a series that runs on pure nonsense, and that's like writing a fanfic about The Wire where half of the characters turn into talking animals or something.

And on more of a wtf crack pairing note, Shampoo/Kuno would be the my favorite pairing if Kuno could ever actually beat Shampoo. Shampoo's type is strong men, Kuno's type is women who can beat him up. Horrible, horrible poetics would ensue.

The Kodachi/Ranma fic wasn't Roses of Shadow (, was it? That's the one where Kodachi has BIPOLAR DISORDER and goes to a mental institution for a while because Ranma asks her to. (It's not horrible in terms of writing style, it's just not the usual tone of Ranma 1/2, at all.)

Nah, it was some vastly alternate universe fic where Kodachi and Ranma were already a couple for some reason and basically... did you ever see that recurring SNL sketch where Will Ferrell and Ana Gasteyer played a married couple that overused and overpronounced the word "lovers" and oversexualized everything to a ridiculous degree? It was like that. Which I guess I buy for Kodachi but Ranma, er. Not so much.
