... yes, really. Over a month later. Shut up.

For me (I mean, really, I'm assuming for most people but I don't want to be presumptuous), emotional reactions to music are most of the time based on people and experiences that I associate with the music I listen to. Especially sadness; there's few songs that, in and of itself, make me sad just because the song is sad. Instead, the songs that make me sad are the songs that I mentally associate with people I sorely miss. I'm not going to get into the specifics, but "One Summer's Day" by Joe Hisaishi, from the Spirited Away soundtrack has, though a series of associations regarding a trip I took and who I took it with, ended up always making me feel melancholy at the very least when I hear it. It's a gorgeous song, too, from one of my favorite soundtracks, but I can't really listen to it all the time anymore because of the effect it has on me.

Day 01 - Your favorite song
Day 02 - A song that makes you happy
Day 03 - A song that makes you sad
Day 04 - A song that reminds you of someone
Day 05 - A song that reminds you of somewhere
Day 06 - A song that reminds you of a certain event
Day 07 - A song that you can dance to
Day 08 - A song that makes you fall asleep
Day 09 - A song from your favourite band
Day 10 - A song that no one would expect you to love
Day 11 - A song that describes you
Day 12 - A song from your favourite album
Day 13 - A song that you listen to when you're angry
Day 14 - A song that you listen to when you're happy
Day 15 - A song that you listen to when you're sad
Day 16 - A song that you want to play at your wedding
Day 17 - A song that you want to play at your funeral
Day 18 - A song that makes you laugh
Day 19 - A song that turns you on
Day 20 - A song you've listened to after a break-up
Day 21 - A song that gives you shivers
Day 22 - A song you can't help but air-jam to

On another music-related note, one month after the World Cup and I'm still in love with the Uruguayan national anthem. I like that the World Cup this year has left me with a bit more of a drive to really get into soccer beyond following the Sounders; hopefully next month I'll be following the Premiere League to start with, and the World Cup has left me with a couple teams that I'm a fan of that aren't just the USA, I guess Norway (I will start paying attention to you, Norway!), and France (... lol, France). Does the fact that I supported both France and North Korea at the World Cup this year make me like the worst soccer fan ever? I think it might.
