So I got my badge for SakuraCon today. To do this, I had to stand in a pre-registration line for about an hour. This is all to be expected; PAX has trained me to instinctually expect painfully long lines at conventions. So that's all well and good. What baffled me was the fact that people were cosplaying. For the preregistration line. Like, the actual convention hasn't even started yet. Moreover, I really do think there's kind of a fundamental difference between actually going as someone and just dressing kind of like that character and putting in no other work, which half of the cosplayers really should keep in mind (there was an amazing Haruno Sakura, though, so it wasn't all bad).
The fact that I came to this conclusion today can mean only one thing; yes, ladies and gentlemen, I have just proven that I can be an elitist snob about ANYTHING.
Also, they gave the preregistrants the entirety of Sakura Wars: The Movie on DVD. Robin and I are considering doing a fandub to make it more like his awesome Sakura Wars fanfiction where he never actually bothered to see Sakura Wars in the first place. This is a plan that I can get behind, baby.
