Mar. 31st, 2008 01:24 amI, for one, am happy to be wearing normal clothes in public again for the first time in three days.
... which is to say that SakuraCon is done with. I spent the first half of Saturday wandering around by my lonesome, followed by running into CFUDers and hanging out with them for a little bit before we dispersed and I ran into Feather, Victor, and Molly immediately afterwards and spent the rest of the evening hanging out with them. Also, attending the cosplay contest which was... okay at best, painful at worst. It got so bad that I turned my laptop on and started writing a play-by-play of what was going on on stage and mocking all of it for the amusement of myself and those with me (since it probably wasn't so much funny as it was just exasperated and angry, I doubt I will be reposting it anywhere). The highlights of it were Fatsuke, the Desert Pope, and the Silent Hill nurses dancing to "Puttin' on the Ritz" for a brief interlude of actual entertainment before they went back to doing the damn Lucky Star OP dance.
And Sunday was more or less the same formula; show up, wander, run into PWNers, wander with them, inevitably end up going elsewhere, and then I ran into Feather and Victor and hanging out with them until closing ceremonies. Ultimately it was an enjoyable way to spend a weekend, and as far as my first serious attempt at cosplay goes, it seemed to be a success though there's a lot of stuff I want to tweak (a new helmet above all else, because the one I had was entirely too small). Still, people seemed to have an easy enough time recognizing who I was cosplaying (I think I ended up with twenty-five people or so asking to take my picture, not to mention the two or three people who just sort of... took my picture whilst I wasn't paying attention, which I'll never get. I mean, if they had asked I would have posed and everything, which is surely more interesting than taking a photo of me on my laptop), so I guess it works out.
And now, spring quarter starts tomorrow. Math, astronomy, environmental sciences, and martial arts just sort of for the hell of it. Sob.
